Kingston Gallery is thrilled to introduce Emma Newbery, the inaugural recipient of the Emerging Writer Residency. This 14-month program offers a Boston-based art writer the opportunity to join a community of practicing artists, to write and publish critical essays on art exhibits, and to work with a mentor. Join us in welcoming Emma to the community.
EMMA in her own words:
I am an Arts & Culture journalist and podcaster based in Boston. I first began writing to find the reaches of my own voice. As I continue to hone my writing style, I follow stories that allow me to elevate and explore perspectives and subjects that are not always given a voice. I have covered a variety of topics, including visual art, poetry, film, new religious movements in America, the rise and function of nationalism, and prison reform. I studied Religion and Anthropology at Bowdoin College in Brunswick, ME. Currently, I am a journalist at the Boston Hassle.
